Abstract
PURPOSE: To use a combined catalyst of a metal salt of Cs, K or Rb with a metal salt of Cu, Ag, Pb, etc. having a long life, whose activity can be readily recovered, as a catalyst in dehydrochlorinating 1,1,2-trichloroethane catalytically.
CONSTITUTION: 1,1,2-Trichloroethane is catalytically dehydrochlorinated in the presence of a combined catalyst of (A) a metal salt of cesium, potassium, rubidium, or thallium with (B) a metal salt of copper, silver, lead, chromium, iron, or molybdenum to give vinylidene chloride. The weight ratio of (A) to (B) is preferably 1:1W1:0.01. The catalyst has a very long life, and its activity if lowered after reaction for a long time, is readily recoverable with an oxygen-containing gas under heating.
