Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound useful as a raw material for cationic polymers used as an antistatic agent, in a short time and high yield and advantageously with suppressed side reactions, by transesterification of the reactants in the presence of a specific organotin cyanide as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula II (R1 is H or CH3; R2 is 1W4C alkyl) is transesterified with a compound of formula III (R3 and R4 are 1W8C alkyl, aralkyl, etc.; R5 is 2W4C alkylene), in the presence of one or more compounds of formula I (R6 is 1W12C alkyl or an aromatic hydrocarbon group; X is integer 0W3), as a catalyst, to obtain the object compound in a short time and high yield. As the side reaction and polymerization are inhibited, the amount of polymerization inhibiter, high viscosity after the reaction, and treatment of block polymerization may be decreased. The catalyst mentioned above is affected by the water in the raw material compound less than the known tin catalyst, and is advantageous without deactivation.
