Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately identify an AE wave, by extracting a sound wave signal at a prescribed level to obtain an extracted pulse signal train and continuing the train to produce a high-level signal.
CONSTITUTION: An AE sensor 1 receives a sound wave and changes it into an electric signal, which is supplied to an extraction circuit 4 and a peak level detection circuit 5 through a pre-amplifier 2 and a main amplifier 3. The extraction circuit 4 extracts a signal component of a prescribed level or more from the signal and detects the rising edge of the extracted component to generate a trigger pulse signal. The trigger pulse signal is supplied to a triggerable monostable multivibrator 7. The number of waves of the signal is indicated by a counter circuit 6. The characteristics of counters 9, 11 are reviewed to discriminate an AE wave from noises.
