Abstract

PURPOSE:To sufficiently remove one-component magnetic toner residual images of high developing density by applying AC corona discharging on the photoreceptor surface for holding the toner residual images after transfer thereafter removing and cleaning the same with a magnetic roll. CONSTITUTION:Even if toner residual images 8 are removed from the photoreceptor surface by magnetic suction force and mechanical force, the toner is held charged negative and since the electric lines of force are extending outward, the toner is in a readily redepositable state. Thereupon, an AC corona discharger 12 is provided before the toner reaches a magnetic roll 13 and AC corona discharge is given to the residual toner for the purpose of precleaning, by which the charges of the residual toner are destaticized by positive charges. Since the electric lines of force are negated by applying negative charges to the charges existing at the boundary of the photoconductive layer and transparent insulation layer, redeposition may be prevented and the residual toner may be sufficiently removed and cleaned in the cleaning part.
