Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to judge immediately whether a fault occurrence part is an arithmetic part or relay part at the time when a fault occurs, by checking the output of digital output module DO by digital input module DI and also by checking the input of DI by DO.
CONSTITUTION: To diagnose DI26 in terms of a fault, contact 15a of relay 15 in relay part 10 is set in parallel to open collector transistor 29 in the output part of DO27, and when transistor 29 is made to conduct via photocoupler 30 by a command from CPU24, a current flows through the diode, resistance 32 and transistor 29 of photocoupler 31 to its photo side in case of normal DI26, and consequently a signal is generated at point A and then read into CPU24 via IC33. In this example, diagnoses of bits "0" and "1" of DI26 are made by bits "2" and "3" of DO27.
