NEW MATERIAL:A coumarin derivative of formula I: (ring A is substituted by at least one of alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, nitro, and hydroxy groups, or form a benzene ring by substituting butadienylene group for two adjacent carbon atoms at the 5,6,7, and 8-positions). EXAMPLE:6-Ethyl-3-(tetrazol-5-yl)-coumarin. USE:Preventives and remedies for allergic diseases, e.g. allergic asthma dermatitis, and hay fever. PROCESS:A compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III: (R<1> is H, alkyl, or aralkyl group) in the presence of a base, e.g. pyridine, to give the objective compound of formula I.
