Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a moistening device suitably wet and causing no crack during long period of exposure by adding water, solidifying agent, wetting agent, gelling agent, and as required preservatives to the main component consisting of polysaccharides with molecular weight of 200,000W300,000.
CONSTITUTION: The following materials are used: (A): polysaccharide, e.g. guar gum in amt. of 5pts.wt., (B): 80pts.wt. of water, (C): wetting agent, e.g., polyhydric alcohol in amt. of 20pts.wt. (D): solidifying agent, e.g. polyether in amt.of 30pts.wt. (E): gelling agnet, e.g., borax in amt.of 0.02, (F) preservatives, e.g. sodium benzoate in amt. of 1pts.wt. (G)pH controller, e.g., Ca(OH)2. In preparation, (a) is gradually added to mixed solution of (B) to (F), and sufficiently mixed until it gets sticky, then aq. Ca(OH)2 is added and mixed so that pH is adjusted to 8W9. The mixture is poured in a metal container, and heated at 60W80°C for about 1hr, thereafter the mixture is cooled to provide a moistening tool for office use, having a proper elasticity.
