Abstract

PURPOSE: Acrylic fibers are treated with an aqueous liquid containing a specific acrylate ester copolymer and a component consisting of higher hydrocarbons and surfactants, thus producing title fibers with high durability to washing and reduced yarn breakage in knitted fabrics when sewed.
CONSTITUTION: Acrylic fibers are treated with an aqueous solution or dispersion containing (A) a component composed of a copolymer from 60W90wt% of acrylate or methacrylate ester of the formula (R is H, methyl; R1 is chlorine, bromine, methoxy; 0≤m<10; l≥10) and 10W40wt% of acrylonitrile and (B) another component composed of at least one selected from the group consisting of higher hydrocarbons of 25W33 carbon atoms, esters from 3W6C polyhydric alcohols and 14W18C fatty acids, aliphatic amides from 12W17C fatty acids and aminoalcohols and water- soluble silicone compounds and of a surfactant of polyoxyethylene, thus producing the objective fibers.
