Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture the cold rolled steel strip having a suprior appearance and surface property at low cost, by decreasing the air ratio for combustion of heating zone gradually and also, reducing oxidation film produced by direct heating, at the time of carrying out continuous annealing of the cold rolled steel strip by direct fire heating. CONSTITUTION:Cold rolled steel strip with rolling oil or iron powder stuck on the surface, is annealed without cleaning previously at the direct heating furnace by the direct fire type burner. On this occasion, mean air ratio for combustion is regulated to 1.05-1.40 the whole combustion process as the strip panes, and temperature of the strip is risen by heating as the strip panes through the heating zone of the direct fire furnace and then, the surface is oxidized. The air ratio for combustion is decreased gradually as the progress of the treatment of the strip in the furnace and is regulated to 0.6-1.0 or less at the last stage of the heating zone and also, temperature of the strip is regulated to 400-900 deg.C. Rolling oil etc. stuck to the surface of the strip, is burnt and iron powder is removed. Then, formed oxidized film is reduced in the atmosphere of low air ratio for combustion and the strip having a superior surface property, is taken out after cooling.
