Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible controlling of high reliability by detecting the deviation in the width direction of a strip with detectors and feeding the same back to pinch rolls.
CONSTITUTION: If a difference in discharge speeds is produced in the width direction at the time when a strip 6 is bent downward by upper and lower pinch rolls 4, 5 and goes toward a mandrel 11, the strip begins to run crooked. As it runs crooked, the quantities of light received in the right and left photo detecting parts 15 change. The changes in the quantities of light are converted to the changes in current with a converter 16 and are inputted to a logical decision circuit 17. The signal value of the time when the strip 6 is being normally coiled has beforehand been inputted as a set value in this logical decision circuit 17 which then compares the deviation from the set value and decides which of the right and left hydraulic screw-down mechanisms 12 is to be operated. The signal from the logical decision circuit 17 is inputted to an arithmetic circuit 18, where the rolling reduction and screw-down speed are determined to operate the hydraulic screw-down devices. Hence, the crooked running condition is eliminated.
