Abstract

PURPOSE: To input the character read in from the character read-in area among the patterns such as characters and graphs on the same document as the code data and the characters and graphs read in from the image read-in area as the quantized pattern data, to the processor.
CONSTITUTION: The document 90 has the character read-in area 901 and the image read-in area 902, where the start mark 903 is provided, for the both areas. The photo electric scanner 1 performs the main scanning toward X and the subscanning toward Y, and the video signal is fed to the character recognizing circuit 3, coded circuit 4 and read-in area identifying circuit 5 via the quantizing circuit 2. The circuits 3 and 4 are operated in the scanning for specified area with the control of the circuit 5 and produces the compression data coding the read-in character data code and picture pattern. Those data are inputted to the data file of the computer 8 via the multiplexer 6 and interface 7.
