Abstract

PURPOSE: An ascorbic 6-ester is added to a heated β-cyclodextrin solution in water, dissolved, cooled and then crystallized out, thus producing title clathrate useful in medical application because of its high heat, acid and light resistance.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An aqueous solution or dispersion of β-cyclodextrin is stirred with heating to 80W90°C and (B) an ascorbic 6-higher fatty acid monoester as ascorbate 6-stearate, in the form of powder or ethanol solution is added to the above solution or dispersion and they are mixed to give a homogeneous solution. The resulting solution is cooled to 10W20°C and the crystals precipitated out are filtered, thereby the objective clathrate is obtained. The amount of compnent A is preferably more than 0.5mol per mole of component B.
