Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance productivity and increase the strength of the lead connection by sintering metal powder on a porus mandrel, applying ultrasonic vibration on the portion of a lead connection of a sintered electrode into which active material is impregnated in order to eliminate the active material, and fixing the lead to the mandrel. CONSTITUTION:Paste whose main ingredient is carbonyl of a loop-shaped mandrel 1 comprising porous nickel-plated steel plate and the like is sintered, thereby a base plate 2 having sintered layer 8 is formed. An active material is impregnated into the base plate 2, which is then molded, thereby an electrode 3 is obtained. Before a lead 5 is attached to the electrode 3, ultrasonic vibration is given to the portion to which the lead is connected in order to remove the sintered layer 8 containing active material, and the porous mandrel 1 is exposed. The lead 5 is welded (6) and connected to the exposed portion 4. The tip of a ultrasonic vibrator which is used for applying the ultrasonic vibration mentioned above has the same shape as that of the lead portion. It is advisable to give the number of vibration of 16 to 30 KHz, the amplitude of 10 to 30mu, and the force of application of 20 to 600g/mm<2>.
