Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the adverse affect of the high temperature of a specimen vaporization chamber to other sections of a gas chromatograph by independently providing the heating blocks of the vaporization chamber and a flame ionization detector and connecting the outlet conduit of thermal conductivity type detector to other conduit in a column constant-temperature tank.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a leased heating block 15 for a specimen vaporization chamber 4 communicating with the analyzing column 3 of a gas chromatograph and a leased heating block 20 independently provided for a flame ionization detector (FID)1. Both the chamber 4 and the FID1 are coated by heat insulators 13, 14, respectively. The inlet conduit 17 of thermal conductivity type detector (TCD)8 is connected to the outlet of the column 3 in contact with the block 20, and connected to the TCD8 in a heat insulator 2'. The outlet conduit 16 of the TCD8 makes contact with the block 20, and is connected by a connector 12 in a column constant-temperature tank 9 surrounded by the insulator 2 to an exhaust tube 16'. When both the TCD8 and the FID1 are used, the connector 12 is connected to the inlet of the FED1 in the tank 9. Thus, the temperature of the chamber 4 can be retained at necessary temperature regardless of other sections without necessity of special heat insulation when connecting the TCD8 to the other detector.
