Abstract

PURPOSE: To adjust the scraping resistance of buckets to scrape precipitated sand under the best condition by moving an underwater head chain wheel by a constant- speed accelerator and providing a mechanism for tensing the chain in response to the movement of the underwater head chain wheel.
CONSTITUTION: When a predetermined pressure is applied through a relief valve 20 from a pump 11 to a cylinder 10, the underwater head chain wheel 5 is press- fitted to the precipitated sand deposit, and buckets 7 bite into precipitated sand. When the precipitated sand scraping resistance of the buckets 7 increases, the tension of the chain becomes greater than a predetermined pressure, and the underwater head chain wheel 5 is pulled between a driving chain wheel 3 and an underwater tail chain wheel 6, thus the buckets 7 being separated from precipitated sand. A tensed chain wheel 4 and a cylinder 13 follow up the reciprocating movement of the underwater head chain wheel 5 and tension-operate a chain 8. For this reason, the hydraulic pressure of the pump 11 is reduced beforehand by a reduction valve 18.
