Abstract
PURPOSE: A metal oxide is added to a fluorescent substance mainly consisting of (Zn, Cd)S, thus giving a fluorescent substance emitting yellow to red color and having a low threshold emitting voltage and fluorescent display tubes.
CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent substance of the equation (0.3≤x≤0.9; M1 is Ag, Mn; M2 is Cl, Al) is combined with 2W50wt% of an electrically conductive or semi-conductive metal oxide, e.g., In2O3, SnO2, to give said fluorescent substance. At least a part of the substance is employed to make fluorescent display tubes. As mixing ratio x in the equation shifts from 0.3W0.9, the emitting color changes from yellow to red.
EFFECT: Said fluorescent substance emits by electron shots with low acceleration voltage of several to several ten volt and since it emits yellow to red colors, for example, it is suitably used for warning displays.
