Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Isovaleric ester derivatives of formula I (R is thiocyanate, isothiocyanate; n is 1 or 2) and their optically active isomers.
EXAMPLE: m'-Thiocyanatomethoxy-α'-cyanobenzyl-α- ( p-chlorophenyl ) -isovalerate of formula I wherein R is SCN and n is 1.
USE: Insecticide and acaricide: these compounds have rapid effectiveness against insects, low toxicity against human beings and domestic animals, moreover, high stability against light. Further, insects resisting orgainc phosphorus agent and carbamate preparation can be effectively controlled. The production cost is low.
PREPARATION: For example, the reaction between a carboxylic acid of formula II or its reactive derivative and a compound of formula III (X is hydroxyl, halogen, trialkylammonium and its counter ion resulting from reaction with an organic tertiary amine) is effected to produce said compound of formula I.
