Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel thermoplastic resin having improved impact resistance, regidity, strength and transparency, by subjecting a block copolymer consisting of specific styrene polymer blocks and conjugated diene polymer blocks, etc. to the addition reaction with a specific silane compound.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. block copolymer consisting of styrene polymer blocks and conjugated diene polymer blocks expressed by the formula (A-B)m, B-(A- B)m, A-(B-A)m or B-A-(A-B)n (A contains 3W40wt% blocks consisting of a conjugated diene essentially; B is a block consisting of styrene essentially; n is ≥2; m is an integer ≥1) or its mixture with polystyrene is subjected to the addition reaction with 0.1W10pts.wt silane compound expressed by the formula R3-aSiXa (R is hydrocarbon; X is hydrolyzable organic group; a is 2 or 3) to give a block copolymer containing the added silane.
