Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled mixture, containing a conjugated dienevinyl aromatic hydrocarbon block copolymer, having the composition distribution in which the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon content changes continuously with the increase in the molecular weight, capable of exhibiting the synergistic effect fully, and easily preparable.
CONSTITUTION: A composition, containing a block copolymeric mixture consisting of polymeric blocks containing at least two vinyl aromatic hydrocarbons essentially and polymeric blocks containing at least one conjugated diene essentially, and having the composition distribution in which the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon content increases or decreases with the increase in the molecular weight substantially in a the monotonous manner. The difference in the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon contents between the polymers occupying the principal components in the mixture is 5wt% or more, preferably 15wt% or more. A prepolymer, having at least one vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon block, and prepared in the presence of an organolithium compound as a catalyst is used as a catalyst in the continuous polymerizing step to prepare the aimed mixture.
