Abstract
PURPOSE: To pick up sand of good quality without spending unnecessary time and labor for water washing, by storing the sand sucked up by a sand pump, into the hold of a boat while continuously washing the sand in water.
CONSTITUTION: The sand sucked up by the sand pump is conveyed into a separator 6 equipped with a porous plate 5 to remove shells and cobblestones from the sand. The sand is then conducted to a dehydration means 9 equipped with a net cylinder 10 which is made of a net material permeable of sea water but impermeable of sand and is open at both its ends and rotated by a motor 13. The mixture of the sand with the sea water is removed of the sea water. The sand is then conveyed into a desalting container made of a conveying gutter 17 provided with the water feed port 18 of a water feed means from which fresh water is ejected in the conveying direction of the sand. The sand gravitates with water into the hold 8 of a boat while the sand is desalted. The sand is filtered by a filter 20. The filtered water is drained out of the hold 8 by a water pump 19 which serves both as a drainer and as the water feed means.
