Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled polyester composition that is produced by copolymerizing a specific amount of a sulfonic acid and a phosphorus compound, thus being suitably used to make fiber for curtains, because it is clearly dyed with basic dyes and flame-retardant.
CONSTITUTION: The dicarboxylic acids mainly composed of terephthalic acid or its derivative and the glycol mainly composed of ethylene glycol or its derivative are copolymerized with an alkali metal salt such as sodium salt of 3,5-dicarboxy- phenylsulfonic acid and a phosphorus compound of formula I [R1, R2 are H, Cl, 1W4C alkyl; R3 is 2W10C organic group; A is OH, COR4 (R4 is OH, Cl); m, n, 1W4; l is 1, 2] so that equations II and III are satisfied (P, S is wt% of phosphorus and sulfur atoms in the polyester respectively), thus producing the objective composition.
