Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a flow property controlling agent for imparting thixotropic property to an org. vehicle in a small amount, comprising a fatty acid diamide obtained by reacting a mixture of a hydrogenated castor oil fatty acid and a straight- chain saturated fatty acid with a specific amine.
CONSTITUTION: A flow property controlling agent comprises a fatty acid diamide based on N-( 12-hydroxystearoyl )-N'-alkanoylethylene ( tetramethylene )diamine; N,N'-bis-( 12-hydroxystearoyl )ethylene( tetramethylene )diamine and N,N'-dialkanoyldiamine obtained by subjecting a mixture of a hydrogenated castor oil fatty acid and a 6W12C straight-chain saturated fatty acid in a mole ratio of 8:2W3:7 and an equivalent amount of ethylenediamine or 1,4-diaminobutane to amidation reaction at 150W175°C. Said controlling agent is excellent in dropping prevention, gloss of a coating and storage stability and used to impart a thixotropic property.
