Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the connection of both parts by integrally molding a spherical shaft and a connecting rod together and then applying a specific surface treatment on them for a FULL-enclose type ball joint compression mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: The spherical shaft 21a and the connecting rod 21b are integrally processed and then subjected to a finishing process involving a surface treatment, e.g., carburization, hardening, nitriding, etc., the carburized layer or nitrided layer 21c is removed, and then the exposure 21d of the base material is formed. Then, the large end portion 21e of an iron steel, separately prepared, is welded to the exposure 21d by a friction welding method, the fin 21f formed is removed, and the inside diameter of the large end portion 21e is finished in an one-spot broken line form. Thus, because the properties of the steel base material are made adaptable to the portion to be welded by a friction welding method, stabilized weld hardness can be obtained.
