Abstract

CONSTITUTION: The titled compound of formula II (R1, R2, R3, and R4 are H or saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group) is prepared by the rearrangement reaction of an allyl-type alcohol of formula I at 150W300°C, pref. 170W250°C in an inert gas atmosphere such as nitrogen, helium, argon, etc. The compound of formula I can be obtained easily, by (1) condensing an alcohol of formula III with an allyl- type halide of formula IV (X is halogen or tosyl) or a tosylate, and (2) isomerizing the resulting bisallyl-type ether or formula V under strongly basic conditions.
