Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a drug and an agricultural chemical by a simple operation safely and inexpensively, by reacting tribromogermane or metal trichloro germanate with acrylic acid, etc., followed by hydrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: HGeBr3 or an ion containing its proton together is reacted with acrylic acid shown by the formula I, to give a compound shown by the formula II which is hydrolyzed to give carboxylethyl germanium sesquioxide shown by the formula III having activating actions on organisms. A compound shown by the formula IV(M is Cs, K, or Rb) is reacted with acrylic acid or a β-halogenopropionic acid, to give a reaction product which is hydrolyzed, to give a compound shown by the formula III.
