Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable saving of consumption energy, by a method wherein, in a steering device in a small-sized ship, a sensor, detecting the manipulation of a steering wheel, is mounted, and a hydraulic pump is actuated at only a steering time.
CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic cylinder 3, which operates an arm 2 set at a steering shaft 1, is actuated by means of a hydraulic pump 4 through a metering device 6. The hydraulic pump 4 is driven from an electric motor 5, and a steering wheel 7 is attached to the metering device 6. A magnetic sensor 8 is mounted at the steering wheel 7, and a signal from the magnetic sensor 8 is fed to a controller 9. The controller 9 consists of a filter 10, a waveform shaping circuit 11, a frequency- voltage conversion circuit 12, a comparison circuit 13, and a drive circuit 14, and the electric motor 5 is run according to signals from the steering wheel. The hydraulic pump is driven from the electric motor only when the steering wheel is manipulated, and this permits saving of consumption energy and also prevents an oil temperature from rising.
