Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible the considerable improvement in cycle time with simple constitution by rotating a rotating side chuck at all times, performing mounting, dismounting and friction heating processes of respective works during low and high speed revolutions and applying the regenerative brake through pole changing of a motor at the end period of the latter.
CONSTITUTION: While a rotating side chuck 2 is at the point A during the preset low-speed revolution, work pieces 6a, 6b are held in the rotating and stationary side chucks 2, 3 respectively. Next, at the point B, a motor pole change command is emitted and the chuck 2 is advanced toward 3. After the point C when the revolution of the chuck 2 reaches the preset high speed, both work pieces are allowed to contact frictionally each other by axial thrust P1 and their faying surfaces are softened by friction heat. At the point D when this was accomplished sufficiently, the pole change is recommanded and the revolution of the chuck 2 shift to predetermined low speed. At this time, the revolution by the regenerative brake acting to pole change motor decreases rapidly and reaches the point E. When the chuck 3 is released upon detecting this, the work piece 6b is supported at its end surface by a thrust receiver 8, by which the relative rotating speeds of the two works lower rapidly to make integral revolution and this completes the work.
