Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the installation of an auxiliary tank and facilitate the water supply by a method wherein the auxiliary tank is arranged between the upper end surfaces of both the right and left tanks in the engine radiator of an automoble and a one-way valve is provided on the line with which the axis lines of the communicating holes provided in the left tank and auxiliary tank and that of the water supply port coincide.
CONSTITUTION: The auxiliary tank 5 is arranged between the upper end surfaces of both the right and left tanks 3 and 4 in the main body of radiator 1. The auxiliary tank 5 is provided with the water supply port 8 to which the cap 10 with a press rod 24 internally protruded at its center. The pressurizing valve 18 with a connecting member 23 is provided on the line with which the axis lines of the communicating holes 12 and 11 provided in the left tank 3 and auxiliary tank 5 and that of water supply port 8 coincide. The cap 10 together with the pressurizing valve 18 is removed from the tank 5 to supply water and after the water is supplied, the whole pressurizing valve 18 is pressed down through the press rod 24 by the screwing-in of the cap 10 in the water supply port 8. Under this condition, when the pressure within the main body of radiator 1 exceeds the set pressure because the cooling water is heated, the pressurizing valve 18 is opened and the water within the main body of radiator 1 corresponding to the volumetric expansion of the cooling water is flowed in the auxiliary tank 5 through the communicating holes 12 and 11.
