Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable inducing of electron beam to a specified weld line by installing a roller electrode that moves on the weld line of the object to be welded, its support and a DC power source on the opposite side of the beam.
CONSTITUTION: Since a roller electrode R and its support S are connected electrically, when the electrode R and an object to be welded D are brought into contact at a point G on the weld line, two sets of electrical circuit, G-H1-O and G-H2-O, are formed. Due to potential difference between G and H, electric force F is generated near the point G on both sides of a weld line L. As the electric force F acts on a beam B, the beam B is inducted by the electric force F to arrive at the weld line L and performs prescribed welding. Accordingly, occurrence of defective welding such as poor penetration etc. caused by bending of the beam B can be prevented and welding time can be reduced.
