Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a deflector of a small size, high efficiency and a low cost by using a converging convex lens and a slit plate of the slit width changing according to scanning angles in place of f-, theta-lenses of a laser deflector using a rotary polyhedral mirror. CONSTITUTION:Light from a semiconductor laser 11 is made into parallel light by a collimator lens 12, and this parallel light is focused by a focusing convex lens 13. The semiconductor laser 11 is so disposed that the direction P parallel to the joint surface coincides with the scanning direction. The light deflected by a rotary polyhedral mirror 14 passes through a slit plate 15 having such an opening which is narrow to increase the angle of deflection in the center and is of gradually wider slit widths, thereby entering onto a scanning plate 16 as roughly a circular luminous flux. The deflector of a small size, high efficiency and a low cost is obtained without using costly f- and theta-lenses.
