Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an anion exchange resin suitable for chromatography by using a crosslinked copolymer having polyamines combined with its surface and no anion change groups in its inner part as a surface functional type anion exchange resin.
CONSTITUTION: Polyamines of a primary, secondary, or tertiary amines, or quaternary ammonium groups are bonded with the surface of crosslinked copolymer by covalent bond like pendants and the inner part of the copolymer has substantially no anion exchange groups. Such copolymer is used as a surface functional type anion exchange resin, permitting the resin to be used for a packing material in the ion exchange chromatography because of the presence of ion exchange groups only in the surface layer.
