Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A thiadiazolyl lower alkanoic acid derivative shown by the formula I (R1 is amino, or protected amino; R2 is carboxy, or protected carboxy; A is lower alkylene) or its salt.
EXAMPLE: 2-(5-Acetamide-1,2,4-thiadiazole-3-yl)acetic acid ethyl ester.
USE: An antimicrobial agent. An intermediate for preparing 7-acylaminocephalosporin compound.
PROCESS: For example, a compound shown by the formula II (R1 is amino, or protected amino; R3 is lower alkyl; A1 is lower alkanetriyl) or its salt is reacted with an alcohol or water in the presence of an acid.
