Abstract

PURPOSE: To apply a uniform thickness coating material such as an photoelectric material on the outer peripheral surface of a drum such as a photosensitive drum by using the squeeze effect of a scraper blade installed nearly concentrically with the drum and the leveling effect by the surface tension of the coating material.
CONSTITUTION: A support fixture 14' is rotatably installed to a base bench 13' through bearings 27. The fixture 14' is rotated by motor 28 through belt 29. A drum (an object to which a paste type coating material is applied) 1 supported on the top part 15 of the fixture 14' is rotated and a coating fixture 16 is moved in the direction of arrow F. The fixture 16 is vertically reciprocated by being guided with slide posts 18 attached on the base bench 13'. Because the drum 1 is rotated, the layer thickness of the coated material forms a spiral groove 30. The groove 30 is smoothed into a uniform thickness layer due to the leveling effect by the surface tension.
