Abstract
PURPOSE: A prepolymer composed of a specific polyhydroxy compound and a polyisocyanate is dispersed in water and a chain extender is made to act thereon to produce high-quality titled emulsion free from adverse effects caused by the emulsifier.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between (A) polyhydroxy compounds including a polyhydroxy compound with 3 or more functional groups such as glycerol, (B) monohydroxypolyalkylene oxide of which the polyoxyalkylene chains are composed of 50W100wt% of oxyethylene chains and the molecular weight is 400W8,000, and (C) an excess amount of polyisocyanate is conducted to produce a prepolymer with isocyanate groups on the chain terminals. Then, the prepolymer is dispersed in water and (D) a chain extender is made to act thereon or the prepolymer is partially chain extended, then made to react with the component D to produce the objective emulsion.
USE: Artificial leather, adhesive, coating and so on.
