Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide functional characteristics such as a shape memorizing effect or superelastic behavior by preparing an alloy composition consisting of a specified amount of Al, a specified amount of Zr and the balance Cu.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy consists of 9W15wt% Al, 0.003W0.3wt% Zr and the balance Cu. In order to control the usage temp. zone where a functional effect is produced, it is desirable to add <10wt% Ni besides said elements. The reason why the Al content is regulated to 9W15wt% is that the alloy can not form a β-phase structure even at high temp., and no shape memorizing effect and no superelastic behavior are produced even by heat-treating the alloy when the Al content is out of the range. When the Zr content is <0.003wt%, the effect of improving the functional characteristics is insufficient, and >0.3wt% Zr causes a change in the transformation temp. zone.
