Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful for angina pectoris, arrhythmia, etc. in high yield and purity in a short time, by reacting 7-(3-tosyloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)indene with isopropylamine.
CONSTITUTION: 7-(3-Tosyloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)indene expressed by formula I is reacted with isopropylamine expressed by formula II in a solvent, e.g. benzene or toluene, to give the aimed compound expressed by formula III. In the process, an excess amount of the compound expressed by formula II is reacted with the compound expressed by formula I. The compound of formula II can be converted into a hydrochloride thereof without isolation of the compound expressed by formula III.
