Abstract
PURPOSE: A flame-retarding composition which does not produce corrosive gases when burned, prepared by adding Al(OH)3 and a silane type cupling agent to an amorphous or low-crystalline ployolefin resin.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. of an amorphous or low-crystalline polyolefin resin such as an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer or polybutene-1 are added 100W300pts.wt. of Al(OH)3 and 0.5W20pts.wt. of a silane type coupling agent such as vinyltrimethoxysilane.
EFFECT: Deleterious effects of a high Al(OH)3 content upon mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation and low-temperature properties can be prevented by using the amorphous or low-crystalline olefin resin as a polymer material.
