Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a powder addition agent for continuous casting which causes no transverse crack in cast steel material, by limiting B compound contained in the powder addition agent used in the continuous casting of large size bloom etc. to a specified very small amount.
CONSTITUTION: In continuous casting of bloom, billet, slab of large section, powder addition agent consisting of 10W60% SiO2, 1W15% Al2O3, 5W47% CaO, <15% (Na2O+K2O), 2W25% fluoride such as fluorite is added in the mold. Limitation of B compound contained in the addition agent to ≤0.0100% in terms of B allows to prevent the formation of transverse crack in the continuously cast products such as billet.
