Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the pressure of suction and exhaust to the optimum and improve fuel consumption efficiency, output, etc. in a whole running range, by providing bypasses or the turbine and compressor of a supercharger and regulating open/ close valves in the bypasses depending on the running state of an engine.
CONSTITUTION: Bypasses 9, 10 are provided to short-circuit the upstream and downstream sections of the turbine 3 and compressor 2 of a supercharger 1. Open/ close valves 11, 12 are installed at the connection nodes of the bypasses 9, 10 with a suction passage 6 and an exhaust passage 8. The valves are regulated by an electronic controller 14. This controller receives the output signals of a suction pressure sensor 15, an exhaust pressure sensor 16 and other sensors 17, 18 for detecting the conditions of an engine and compares the real running state of the engine with each of programmed running states and controls the degree of opening of the open/close valves 11, 12 to apply optima suction pressure and exhaust pressure for each running state.
