Abstract

PURPOSE: To control air-fuel ratio to an appropriate rate constantly by controlling by feeding back suction air rate, exhaust return flow rate, and fuel injection rate to a constantly appropriate air-fuel ratio by the signal from a detector for the concn. of the compound in the exhaust gas provided in the exhaust system.
CONSTITUTION: A control circuit 11 is provided to control actuators A, B of a suction throttle valve 8 and an EGR rate control valve device 9 so that the air-fuel ratio becomes an appropriate ratio which is stored in advance based on a signal from an O2 sensor 12 which is an exhaust gas component detector provided in a part of an exhaust passage 4. The control circuit 11 also detects the result of controlling by the signal from the O2 sensor 12, considers its influences on the safety and the stability of exhaustion and operation, and feed back-controls the throttle valve 8 by the actuator A to increase suction rate and the control valve device 9 by the actuator B to reduce EGR rate, and then controls an injection pump 7 by an actuator C to reduce the injection rate.
