Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled article for inserting into a hole bored to the trunk of a tree, having high and long-acting insecticidal activity, and especially useful for the extermination of Bursaphelenchus lignicolus, by mixing an effective component with a polymer and forming the mixture to a rod.
CONSTITUTION: An insecticidal component (e.g. an agent for controlling Bursaphlenchus lignicolus, such as "Lannate") is mixed homogeneously with a synthetic polymer and formed to a rod, which is inserted into a hole bored to the trunk of a tree and releases its effective component slowly to the trunk. The synthetic polymer is a thermoplastic polymer which melts at a relatively low temperature, e.g. an ethylene-vinyl acetate resin, a urethane resin, etc. The amount of the effective component is 10pts.wt based on 10W100pts.wt. of the synthetic polymer. The insecticidal effect lasts for about 6 months to about 3 years, and in contrast with application by scattering, it does not pollute the environment.
