Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a tuning device having a reversible tuning control function by providing a differential mechanism and a responding mechanism as mechanical coupling means between the punch in the upper part and the punch in the lower part.
CONSTITUTION: The closed forging press is provided with a die closing press ram 3 and a pair of diametrically opposing punching rams 5, 6, which both make reciprocative motion along the common axial line. When a ram 5 for punch descends, the press ram 3 is held stopped; hence a slide rack 25 is held stopped as well. However, along with descending of the ram 5 for punch, an intermediate body 13 descends and the gear 19 meshing with the rack 14 turns while meshing with the rack 26 of the slide rack 25, thereby inducing descending motion. The extent of the descending is 1/2 that of the intermediate body 13. Thereupon, if the gear ratio of the gear 22 and the gear 23 is kept at 1:2, the extent of ascending forced to the intermediate body 15 in the lower part becomes equivalent to the extent of descending of the intermediate body 13 and the extents of going-in of the punch 7 and punch 8 become equivalent as well. In this way, the moving mechanisms are associatedly driven by a linkage system.
