Abstract

PURPOSE: An odorless antifouling composition against an aquatic harmful organism, effective for a fishing net, rope, and buoy, usable safely and capable of showing an antifouling effect for a long term in seawater, with low toxicity to man, and comprising a triazine compound as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: An antifouling composition against an aquatic harmful organism comprising (A) 2W7wt% a triazine compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are amino or phenoxy groups; R3, R4 and R5 are 1W8C alkyl or phenyl groups), e.g. 2,4- dimethylamino-6[tri(methyl)tinoxy]-S-triazine, as an active constituent, (B) 3W 10wt% a resin soluble in organic solvents, and (C) an organic solvent. The compound of formula I can be obtained by reacting a triazine compound of formula II (X is halogen, OH or NH2) with an organotin compound of formula III (Y is OH or halogen).
