Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain stabilized methylene chloride useful as a solvent for the vapor degreasing of metal, by adding an aliphatic amine, a nitroalkane, an aliphatic group formic acid ester, and if necessary, an alcohol to methylene chloride. CONSTITUTION:To obtain stabilized methylene chloride when used as a solvent for the vapor degreasing of metal under the influence of light, air, moisture, oil, heat, etc., by adding 0.005-0.5wt% of an aliphatic amine (e.g. diisopropylamine), 0.01-1.0wt% of a nitroalkane (e.g. nitromethane), 0.01-1.0wt% of an aliphatic group formic acid ester (e.g. methyl formate), and 0.01-10.0wt% of an alcohol (e.g. methanol) to methylene chloride. A sufficient stabilizing effect cannot be attained by the separate use of the above stabilizers or by the combined use with other stabilizers.
