Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the resistance to liquid leak by a method in which a sealant layer is provided on the surface of a packing and its surface is coated with a photosetting adhesive and cured by light. CONSTITUTION:The metal case 1 is housed with the positive electrode mixture 2 of silver oxide, etc., the separator 3, the electrolyte-impregnated paper 4, and the amalgamated zinc negative electrode 5 and then enclosed by a metal sealing plate serving as a negative terminal through the packing 7 of a synthetic resin to form a cell. In this case, the surface of the packing 7 is provided with the highly viscous sealant layer 8 of chloro-sulfonated polyethylene, polybutene, etc., and then with the photosetting adhesive 9, e.g., a mixture of a resin capable of radical polymerization in the ultraviolet-ray region, e.g., acrylonitrile, epoxy resin or the like, to which is added 0.05-0.1wt% an initiator, followed by curing by irradiation of light from high-pressure mercury lamp or the like. The thickness of the adhesive layer 9 is preferably made thinner than the sealant layer 8.
