Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover and remove triethylamine from an upper layer certainly, by absorbing an exhaust gas generated during cast molding according to a cold box method in a mineral acid and adding an alkali to the obtained waste liquid to separate into an upper and a lower layer.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas containing triethylamine, a polyisocyanate and a phenol resin is introduced into an absorbing tower 10 from a duct 9 and contacted with an aqueous mineral acid solution sucked up by a pump 14 and injected from a nozzle 14 and the aqueous mineral acid solution containing triethylamine or the like absorbed therein is fallen to a storage tank. Subsequently, an aqueous solution containing an increased amount of triethylamine or the like is sent to a separation tank 25 through a pipe 27 and, herein, an alkali liquid 3 is added to form an upper layer containing a large amount of triethylamine and a lower layer containing a resinous material consisting of gelled polyisocyanate and phenol resin. Then, from the upper layer, triethlamine is removed and recovered, while the resinous material contained in the lower layer is removed by filtration and activated carbon treatment.
