Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent impulses from arising from detonation by a method wherein, when ignition is failed at the first-time starting, a starter motor is started to feed air under pressure and the fuel injected into the engine at the first-time starting is discharged together with the air.
CONSTITUTION: In the case where ignition is failed at the first-time starting, a portion 24 of the fuel injected accumulates at the bottom of a scroll 22. A time is set so that only a starter is driven by the next starting operation. By such setting, only the starter is driven, and the fuel accumulated at the bottom of the scroll 22 is discharged to the outside of the scroll 22. Then, an igniter is started together with a starter motor to ignite the proper fuel, thereby preventing the hot start.
