Abstract
PURPOSE: To make constant the time of scavenging from each port and enhance the scavenging efficiency by a method wherein the cylinder of a two-stroke-cycle engine is provided with an exhaust port, with a pair of right and left main scavenge ports at the middle portion, and with the third scavenge port having a throttle on the other side.
CONSTITUTION: The cylinder 1 is provided with an exhaust port 8 and with the third scavenge port 10 opposite to the port 8. A pair of main scavenge ports 9, 9 are provided at the right and left portions between the ports 8, 10. The third scavenge port 10 is communicated with a crank chamber 5 through a throttle 13. Accordingly, the scavenge airflow passing through the throttle 13 is accelerated, so that the scavenging through the third scavenge port 10 takes place at the same timing as the scavenge airflow spouting through the main scavenge ports 9, 9.
