Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a favourable fixing image by applying rubber, which de- creases in its hardness as a running quantity increases, to a rubber layer of a fixing roller to prevent nip width from changing, thus realizing an optimum supply of heat quantity.
CONSTITUTION: This fixing device is composed of the fixing roller 1, press roller 2, and heating roller 3, forming nip parts N1 and N2 between them. RTV silicone rubber, having such a prescribed composition that it decreases its hardness as a running quantity increases, is used to a rubber layer 5 of the fixing rollers. By this means, as a running quantity increases, so the diameter of the roller 1 decreases, but widths of nip parts N1 and N2 are kept constant. Accordingly, heat quantity supplied from the roller 3 to roller 1 does not decrease to paper P does not decrease, so that a fixing property of toner images is always kept favourable.
