Abstract

PURPOSE: To rapidly and perfectly remove sealant for a tire without damaging to the inner face of a tire body when the sealant is undesirably applied during production steps of a tire with sealant by using an apparatus including a lip which can be energized to emit heat.
CONSTITUTION: A sealant removing apparatus E comprises a tool 1 having a lip 1a adapted to be energized to emit heat and an energizing device 2 which can provide a high electric current with a low voltage to the lip 1a of the tool 1. The lip 1a of the tool 1 is curved into a substantially horse-shoe shape and is attached to a shank 1b made of an insulating material. The energizing device 2 includes a transformer 5, an ammeter 6, a power source voltage regulator 7 and a breaker 8 which are all housed in a box 4. During use, the lip 1a of the tool 1 is heated to 200W 500°C, and a sealant (a) for prevention of tire puncture which is adhesively applied to the inner face of a tire body T developed by an expander 10 is fused from its welded portion by the heated lip 1a of the tool 1 and is removed therefrom.
